Alastair Merrill

I'm a professional photographer based in Datchet, a beautiful village on the Thames to the west of London and near to Windsor, although my work takes me across the UK and overseas.

I specialise in weddings and portraiture, and working with musicians and performers. I also provide product and event photography for business clients.

My work has featured on the BBC website; in newspapers in the UK and overseas; in the magazines Classical Music, Sunday Times Style, Harper's Bazaar, and the style bible Wallpaper Magazine; been used by the Royal College of Music; and illustrated books published by Thames and Hudson. I've also exhibited at London Olympia as a finalist in the Daily Telegraph Travel Photography Competition in association with the Royal Photographic Society.

My photographic journey began in the 1980's as a young boy messing around with my Dad's 35mm film camera and hand-held lightmeter, long before the days of autofocus and digital SLRs, although now I shoot almost entirely in digital.

Although largely self-taught, I've refined my knowledge and skills studying at Central St Martins College of Art and Design (now part of the University of the Arts London), and Ealing School of Art, Design and Media.

I'm a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, and the Society of International Commercial and Industrial Photographers. I hold Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance.
